The upgraded Rockhampton Ambulance Station and Operations Centre has finally opened its doors after 18 months of renovations. This $7.7m upgrade is a testament to the commitment of the Palaszczuk Government in providing modern and functional amenities for our emergency responders while also ensuring space for the growing operational, education and support teams based at the premises.
With emerging technology services being integrated into the design, this upgraded facility also includes training facilities and offices for clinical education staff. This will ensure that our ambulance and communication staff are equipped with the latest technology and knowledge to provide efficient and effective emergency response services.
The opening of the upgraded facility is a significant milestone for the community of Rockhampton. Our local ambulance and communications staff do a fantastic job, and this fantastic facility will support their efforts in providing critical healthcare services to the community.
The Health Minister Yvette D’Ath MP visited the upgraded facility to check out the state-of-the-art amenities and see the impact of the government’s investment in local projects. This upgraded facility is one of more than $3b worth of local projects being delivered with the support of the Palaszczuk Government.
As a symbol of the progress made, a time capsule sealed in 1983 when the building was originally built was opened. Today, newspapers were added to the time capsule, along with a modern uniform and Covid RAT and mask for when it is next opened. This is a reminder of the significant advancements made in healthcare technology and the importance of ensuring our emergency responders are equipped with the latest tools and knowledge to provide efficient and effective emergency response services.
